I know it's similar to another joke here but here goes,
How many JWs does it take to change a lightbulb?
One and 20 others to explain why the new light was needed
how many jws does it take to change a lightbulb?
one, but mature christians will wait for the new system .
how many elders...?.

in the "what's wrong w/jw's" thread, godrules is trying to defend the wts.
when godrules asked for "facts" that show jws are wrong, among the respondants was alanf.
alanf linked to his essay showing the dishonest way the creation book quotes evolutionists.
Hi Seeker: you're definitely correct about the WT not quoting right. But this next example goes one better.
In the July 15th 1997 issue of the Watchtower it contains an article entitled "The Investigative Judgement A Bible Based Doctrine?"
The article is basically a refutation of a key doctrine held by the Seventh Day Adventist Church, based on Daniel 8:14, which teaches that upon Christ's ascension to heaven, He entered the holy part of the Heavenly Sanctuary.
But, in the year AD 1844 He entered the Most Holy compartment where He cleansed the sanctuary by His blood (as depicted by the High Priest on the Day of Atonement) and began a judgement work on all professed Christians (living and dead) to see if they were worthy or not to be written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
Now while the above WT article, in the main, does a fairly good job in refuting this teaching, in usual fashion the WT Society shoots a big hole in its own foot during the process.
For example, on page 26 as part of its arsenal against the S.D.A.s, the WT Society quotes Professor Anthony A. Hoekema to back up its article, but fails to say where the quote comes from.
The simple reason for this oversight is that Anthony Hoekema made his statement on page 146 of his major work "Four Major Cults". A book in which Jehovah's Witnesses also have their own boat blown clear out of the water.
So while the WT article quotes and documents other statements from different sources, it wants rank and file JWs to be kept in ignorance of their quote from Professor Hoekema's work.
For while the Governing Body may read opposition literature, it doesn't want rank and file JWs to do the same (information control is a cult hallmark).
So, in this brief treatment of the WT article we have to reach our own investigative judgement which can be none other than that of our Lord Jesus Christ in His stern words of Matthew 7:1-5.
The WT Society attempts to remove a splinter from the eye of Seventh Day Adventism, while a huge plank lies in its own eye.
In the words of Jesus Christ we offer the only verdict possible "Thou Hypocrite!"
This just goes to show that the Society will even quote people who don't agree with them in order to try to win an argument.
i would sincerely like to know what is so wrong with jehovah's witnesses.
i invite anyone to post here.
please use facts not personal opinions.. i am not interested in dates, the blood issue, nor the disfellowshipping issue since i am conviced that these do not prove that they are wrong.. i am weighing in to see if you as an opposer of jehovah's witnesses have the facts or not.
I asked this question in a previous thread, but the stoney silence from the JW camp was astounding
God Rulz maybe you can answer this one:
Jehovah's Witnesses obviously make a big thing over God's name and say that we should call him Jehovah.
But when Jesus taught his disciples how to pray in Matthew 6:9 why didn't he start the prayer "Jehovah"? Instead he starts it "Our FATHER". Surely if Jesus had wanted us to use God's name he would have taught us to use it in prayer?
What do you think?
it has always puzzled me why jehovah's witnesses still celebrate the memorial.
after all if it says in 1 corinthians 11:26.
"for as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup you proclaim the lord's death till he returns".
Yes that's true. You just wonder how many times Jesus is going to return. I mean isn't it referred to as the second coming. This line of logic means that it's his third coming!!
Confused you will be.

Why then do they still celebrate the Lord's supper every year? Surely if he returned in 1914 then they should have stopped then?
i recently started doing some studying of jehovahs witnesses, and i find most everything so logical, and the people involved have been so nice to me.
i'm 30, and currently am not associated with any denomination.. what i don't understand is how the word "cross" got translated into the bible if it's not right.
aren't we supposed to believe the bible?.
With regards to what Outnfree said:
<QUOTE>The assertion that Jesus returned invisibly in 1914 is just that -- an assertion. There is no Biblical proof to support it, and it isn't even the original date the Society published for his return, if you dig into its history.</QUOTE>

Well it seems that the collective are at a loss for answers here. I didn't realise my question was so difficult.
Come on guys and gals you can do better than this surely.
for decades now, those words have appeared atop one of the watchtower societys buildings in new york city.. that exhortation may never have been more needed by jehovahs people themselves than it is today.
recent posts have asked good questions regarding what can or will sustain individual jehovahs witnesses who do truly love god, but who may be disheartened by various things they have seen in the organization.. it is clear to me that many witnesses spend far more time reading the societys publications than gods word itself.
one reason sometimes given is that the preparation and research has already been done for you, thus making it easier.
What was it that Mr Russell said "read the bible without the watch tower aids and, within six months, you'll return to the beliefs of the church" Praise God. I wonder why big Mother wants you to read the watchtower?
